Description

At this necropolis only four tombs were found. The most famous on was the Tomb of Caius Vestorius Priscus which is dated back to 75-76 AD. A semi-circular bench schaped tomb was dedicated to Arellia Tertulla, and near it was a funerary column for another woman of the name Septumia. The last tomb discovered in this small necropolis was dedicated to Marcus Veius Marcellus.

Mulvia Prisca mater pecunia sua
Translation:
To Vestorius Priscus, Aedile, he lived 22 years. This funeral spot was given along with 2,000 sesterces for his funeral by decree of the town councillors. Mulvia Prisca, his mother, set this up at her own expense.

Tomb of Arellia Tertulla

This tomb was a semi-circular bench shaped tomb. On both ends o the bench it had a lion’s claw, and in the center was a plinth which had two plaques.
Inscription:
Arelliae Numeri filiae Tertullae
Vei Frontonis; huic Decuriones
locum sepulturae post mortem
dederunt et funus ex pecunia propria
decreverunt.
Translation:
To Arellia Tertulla, daughter of Numerius, wife of Veius Fronto. To her the town council gave a burial place after her death and decreed a funeral at public expense.

Translation:
To Marcus Veius Marcellus, this place was decreed a monument by the council.
