Description

This columbarium is located on the Via Appia in Rome. It first belonged to a freedman of Tiberius and a freedman of Claudia Octavia, which is represented by two niches with the inscriptions dedicated to them. It was later bought by Pomponius Hylas to be dedicated to him and his wife. There is a mosaic panel over the entrance of griffins with an inscription.
Inscription:
GN(aei) POMPONI HYLAE E(t) POMPONIAE GN(aei) L(ibertae) VITALINIS
Translation:
Of Gnaeus Pomponius Hylas and Pomponia Vitalinis the freedwoman of Gnaeus
